Dhabas - In and Around Yelahanka


In and around Yelahanka, you can dot many local restaurants popularly known as dhabas. They generally serve local cuisine, North Indian dishes, South Indian dishes, Sea foods, Chinese Dishes etc. Dhabas are generally characterized by mud structures and cots to sit upon while eating. A wooden plank would be placed across the width of the cot on which to place the dishes. With time, the cots were replaced by tables. Most of the Dhabas in Yelahanka have distinct flavours and are famous for their Daal. If you feel that eating in Dhabas are not safe it is the wrong notion. Most of dhabas in Yelahanka are hygiene and the spices and herbs used to prepare foods are not just for flavour and aroma, but they have both digestive and nutritional values. Chillies are rich in Vitamin C, Methi (fenugreek) peps up the liver, ginger and peppercorn aid digestion. Mint is cooling, while coriander is good for kidneys.
